Soko's show at UNION CHAPEL was reviewed for livemusic.fm by Edward Scissortongue (no longer online): "Never have I been involved in such an emotional musical event. SoKo cried sporadically throughout, [but] not floods of tears and tissues. She held it together and didn't once break down completely, but she was close to choking on more than a handful of occasions. It was just insane how in tune her performance was with the way my life is unfolding at the minute. Never have I been to a show which summed up my state of being so accurately."

Alexis Stephens wrote for MTV Iggy (no longer online), describing the sound check before the performance at the McKittrick Hotel: "SoKo zoned her overflowing energy in on her sound check, testing out the crispness of her microphone as she fiercely repeated the word "disgusting" from her song...She ended the check by experimenting with shrill, inhuman moaning sounds, because she wanted to perfect the sound of a sea mammal, out weirding the vibe of an already strange space. The raw sound she produced created an intimacy between the stage and her phantom audience. It also gave the impression that not everything was okay with her."

2014

A twelve date North American tour in June 2014 was cancelled.

Bao Le-Huu reviewed the performance at the Peacock Room for The Orlando Weekly (no longer online): "The only truly unusual parts came via Soko's between-song talk, near soliloqies that were streams of consciousness quivering with charm, neurosis and sometimes astonishing vulnerability. Pardon the assumption given her other vocation, but it was either really real or great acting. And if it’s the latter then we all need to start watching her films en masse and tout de suite."

2015

Matthias Wulff reviewed Soko's 11 July performance in Berlin for Berliner Morgenpost called MY DREAMS DICTATE MY REALITY one of the year's best albums: "Soko has a remarkable way of keeping the audience under control. While singing the anthem 'Visions' she asks for peace, and points to a few (less than peaceful) people in the audience. During another song she suggests that people should give 'a kick in the butt' to those that continue to talk during the performance. The amazing thing is: It works."
